Faculty of Architecture

An event titled "Architects and Interior Architects under the Spotlight" was held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center annually organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture, Architecture Club, and Interior Architecture and Design Club, on Monday, December 26. At the event, certificates were granted to our students, with high honor degrees, granted awards in competitions and participated in social responsibility projects. The event was concluded with the stage performance of İKU Orchestra.

On the initiative of Başakşehir District National Education Directorate, and Başakşehir Living Lab, it was decided to establish a high school specializing in artificial intelligence and related fields in Başakşehir. For this purpose, a number of serial studies were carried out under the leadership of the Directorate of National Education. The first of these studies was the report study, which aimed to draw a conceptual framework with the participation of various stakeholders, by focusing on the added value that this high school will produce and the areas where it will affect.

A panel talk titled "World Heritage Sites of Turkey at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations" was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism between October 1-23, 2022 as a part of the "2nd Capital Culture Road Festival" in order to highlight the history and culture of Ankara in which the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu as a guest speaker. Prof. Dr. Dostoğlu made a presentation titled "UNESCO World Heritage Bursa: Evaluation of the Process and Future Expectations".

The project, which started at the end of the 2021-22 Spring Semester with the initiative of eight third year students of the Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture and proceeded with the support of the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and the Head of the Architecture Department, was carried out between 25 July-6 August.

We are expecting the participation of Department of Architecture and Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design to the Design Marathon event to be held on October 8-9, 2022, by the cooperation of Başakşehir Living Lab, Başakşehir District National Education Directorate, Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture, Başakşehir University Faculty of Architecture and Design and Istanbul Design Factory.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu attended the international conference titled “TOWARDS A NEW EUROPEAN BAUHAUS: Challenges in Design Education & Research” organized by EAAE (European Association for Architectural Education) between 31 August and 4 September 2022 in Madrid, the capital of Spain. The end of the academic year breakfast event of IKU Faculty of Architecture was held on Monday, June 13 with the participation of the academic staff of the Department of Architecture and the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.

Within the scope of the symposium themed “Architectural Episodes 02: New Dialogues in Architectural Education and Practice” organized by IKU Faculty of Architecture Department of Architecture, a workshop titled “Muğla Transcripts in/on Disasters: Forest Fires 2021” was organized in cooperation with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture students.
