Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture continues to bring together the world's famous architects with their students and the architectural environment in the 2020-2021 Spring Semester. The last speaker of the conference series held online was the famous Turkish architect Ferda Kolatan on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 20.00. Kolatan is the Founding Director of SU11 Architecture + Design Office and is also an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman Faculty of Design. Ferda Kolatan's SU11 office in New York is internationally recognized for her design research examining the intersection between contemporary culture, architecture and technology. SU11's projects were widely published, exhibited in famous venues such as MoMA, FRAC Center, Walker Art Center, Vitra Design Museum, Art Basel, Artists Space NY, and participated in Venice, Beijing and Istanbul biennials. Kolatan's research studio in Cairo won the "Golden Achievement Medal" and "2017 Architect Magazine Studio Award" from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. Kolatan was named "Young Community Leader" by the American-Turkish Association in New York for her success as an educator and designer. Ferda Kolatan's online speech titled "Hybrid Architecture", historical references shedding light on today's architecture and her designs she explained by combining creative studio experiences with technology attracted great attention.
